Shout out to Bristol and Bath artists

With a great deal of excitement we can announce that development of The Bristol and Bath Art Book has begun.

So far we have worked with over 250 incredible artists on The City Art Books, a series of hard backed books which showcase some of the most beautiful cities in the world. The books aim to show how local artists have reimagined these iconic places.

Recent quotse just in from book artists:

"I am so glad to be part of this wonderful book"

I would just like to say how delighted I was with the book and to see our wonderful city portrayed in such a colourful way"

'I just wanted to say how beautiful the edinburgh art book is, a really gorgeous book, wonderful to be included alongside amazing artists.  Thank you for including me I'm so grateful'

The Bristol and Bath Art Book will show the cities through the eyes of the artists they inspires. Bristol and Bath are vibrant, creative, arty, historical, yet trendy modern cities with lots of fabulous things to see and do.

If you are an artist (of any description) who have created image of Bristol or Bath (or both) in any media (but not pure photography) we would love to hear from you. Submission is completely free at all stages, with a final selection of 120 pages of images to be selected by a panel of local art and city experts. The deadline for image submission is Friday January 17th 2020, but images can be submitted from now onwards. (The sooner the better!)

The Bristol and Bath Art Book will be created by artist and editor Emma Bennett and published in 2020 by Independent publisher UIT.

How The City Art Books began........

Emma Bennett, creator and editor of the City Art Books is a commercial paper artist working in a studio in central Cambridge.   In 2016 Emma had the idea for The Cambridge Art Book, a simple concept to:

- show the city through the eyes of the artists it inspires

- show the diverse range of artists working in different media and styles

- help fellow artists get their work seen by a broader audience

- get people of all ages walking around cities to stand in the footsteps of an artist for a while (each book has an illustrated map included)

After a lot of coffee and huge support and encouragement from the local artists community The Cambridge Art Book was published in 2017, showing the city through they eyes of 53 talented artists; from amateur to professional, urban sketcher to student. Within weeks of the books launch (and following a great launch party with all the artists), Emma was contacted by some Oxford artists asking 'What about Oxford?' Fast forward to September 2018 and The Oxford Art Book was published.

The Edinburgh Art Book was launched in its home city in June '19, with The Liverpool Art Book (with an introductory note by Sir Paul McCartney) published October 2019.

"From a little idea, we have now worked with over 250 fabulous artists to get their work beautifully represented and show cities in a new and exciting contemporary way. It has been great hearing from artists about new exhibition opportunities, art groups formed and increased sales as a direct result of the books. What a privilege to work not only with local artists but also spend time in these incredible cities.

Bath I know well, but I am very is very excited about getting to known Bristol better and to work with the talented artists to produce a great representation of their cities and art," Emma Bennett
